I have 2 female guinea pigs and have only had them 3 weeks.
They are fed the same diet, bedding etc.
Tink has a hard 'green' scab underneath her nostrils, on her mouth and flaky scabs on her ears!
Though she is acting completely normal!

I put pro biotic and vitamin C supplement in their water
Before i got the vitamin C tink wasn't herself she was drowsy and not as playful as she was when we first got her but that vitamin C seemed to do the trick!

Ive uploaded some pics take today please have a look at them
I'm considering taking her to the vets

Hi and welcome :) xxxxx
we're from OZ so looking forward to chatting soon :)
I'd be onto your vet pronto.................the other thing you could do is contact gorgeousguineas.....their web site is fantastic if you're in the UK.........if unsure contact the moderators and they can advise you :)
all the best, hope to chat soon xx>>>xx>>>

Something fungal?

Best take them to see a vet.

That looks like a severe case of fungal to me. If you email Chrissie at Gorgeous Guineas with the snaps she will put you on the right track.

Editted to say it does look quite bad so I would also take them to a vet for further investigation. Best of luck with them.

thankyou so much for your help! I'm going to contact gorgeous guineas now and i'll let you know what they suggest x

Looks fungal to me too. GG shampoo is great. Also I have found Galen's Garden Green cream helped mine. (recomended by Louise, Sunshine & Twinkly) xx

Yep Galen's Garden was made on the 8th Day! :)) Great stuff, Esme had a touch of fungal between her nose and mouth and it cleared it up. I have used it on ears as well as Sunshine had a touch of fungal after a bite from Twinkle! Boys! :(|)

Welcome to the forum Miimii. I agree it "looks" like a fungal problem, Chrissie at Gorgeous Guineas does some great products and I have heard the Galen's Green Cream is very good also.

One thing I would advise is to find some liquid or tablet Vitamin C to give directly to them. The recommended dose for a poorly pig is 30-50mg per day. Vitamins in the water are too inaccurate and unreliable for a piggie who really needs it - and for piggies who don't really need it, they shouldn't have it in the first place! In short, nothing should be added to the water. Anything you have to supplement or medicate them with is best done directly. Easier said than done when you've not had to struggle with a squirmy guinea pig before, I know! :))

If they were pet shop piggies it is possible they have been deficient in Vitamin C, which could have contributed to their skin issues now.
