one of my sows has a hard scabby patch just to the side of her nose, shes dark coloured so i didnt notice it at first, it doesnt seem to hurt her when i touch it and its mostly just a hard scab not very big, just wondering if anyone knew what it could be ?/

my piggie books havent been very helpful so far!
could take a pic and show if it helps, thanks in advance for any answers!:{

A picture may help if you can get one. The usual causes would be a fungal or parasitic infection, or - if she lives with others - is there any chance she has been nipped near the nose?

heres a pic, i dont think shes been bitten she only lives with her daughter but ive only had them a week and noticed it a couple days after i got them settled in. :...

It looks like fungal to me, it is a common place for it to start but it is hard to tell, does she seem to be scratching the area?.....you can try a few things, for example daktarin or Gorgeous guineas website has a contact email for her where you can email her that photo and she will advise. She makes and sells anti fungal lotions :)

looks like fungal to me to, best to get some cream/shampoo as soon as possible

Thanks everyone for replies x>> ive emailed Gorgeous Guinea's the picture so hopefully i can figure out what kind off treatment she needs. Id prefer to get some shampoo/cream etc from someone who knows about this kind of thing as i wouldnt trust my vet. I took my chinchilla there with a fur ring that was quite bad and they charged me £25 for a consultation with a spanish vet who just mumbed something in broken English which i knew already:0 We had to have him put down in the end so not keen on having to return to them. :(
