Hi, I have 4 sows 1 of them has some small scabs on her back (lower spine area)they remind me bit of cradle cap. They are only on a small area and there is no hair loss. One scab came off yesterday and it looked quite sore but it has scabbed over again today. She seems ok otherwise.

I wondered if anyone had any idea what it might be.

Thank you

It sounds like mites to me. Cuzzy had the cradle cap look about his rear end. I think this is the early stages of mites as my vet wasn't sure if it was exactly that but he was treated for mites and it cleared it up. :)

Thank you is there anything else i can do or can it only be treated by a vet.
Also should i seperate her.

Mites can become rather nasty It's best to get to the vet for Ivermectin.
I personally would not seperate her from her friends since this will likely stress her out. It can be an idea to take one of her pals with her to the vet just to keep her company during the scary trip

Yep Ivermectin is what is used either with injection or spot on. We went with the injections sapced 10 days apart and cost £24.00

I agree with not seperating, my other 2 boars didn't get mites from Cuzzy and also with taking a friend for her that will keep her calm. :)
