Hi, I have a male guinea pig who has a scabby face and sore scabby genitalia. He is eating fine, he doesn't seem to bother with the water bottle, but seems to eat plenty of fruit and veg with water in instead - peppers, cucumber, tomatoes etc., which he has twice a day and he has plenty of hay. The weeks worth of antibiotics from the vet has been ineffective, and now he has some sort of scale on his upper teeth. His poo looks fine, but he is now weeing a lot, to the point where he is laying in it and it is all over his underbelly and smelling.

So far I have tried applying gentian violet, and also currently using a small animal antibacterial spray to his face and genitals.
I have cured him of ring worm in the past, which it doesn't look like.

Any advice would be gratefully received, many thanks

Could it be sores from too much tomatoes? Try stopping these for a bit see if it clears up.

I suspect it's a fungal infection in which case, I would possibly need Nystatin cream?
