Hi,
I currently have 5 Guineas, 3 boys and 2 girls, separated in 2 cages. @ of the boys are 3 weeks old while the other, and one in question, is their father, got him in December from the pet store. I noticed today that he has a scab on his back, and after I did a more thorough inspection there is actually 2, one up on the back of his neck and one about midway on his back. He doesn't have any bald patcches, but does shed a little when you pick him up. Basically I am wondering if it is possible they are bites from one of the babies? Could a much smaller piggie be bullying him? I did witness one of the babies run at him and it looked like he headbutted his father, but wouldn't the bigger guinea just brush him away?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

@richy2j A vet visit would be really beneficial. They could be bite wounds, but they could also be caused by mites.

Welcome to the forum
As @Jaycey has said - a vet trip is your best course of action.
They will be able to tell you exactly what the problem is and treat it.
Do let us know how things go

My boy had a similar problem after we first got him, and I was worried he was being bitten by one of his cage mates.
It turned out to be skin condition, which was extremly itchy and very painful for him.

The good news is that after a full course of treatment from the vet it cleared up pretty quickly.
So a vet check is essential to have the problem properly diagnosed and treated with the appropriate medication.

Right on thank you. Will get him into the vet asap and let you know how it goes.
