scared 11 month old guinea pig help please

hey guys,

i have a guinea pig of 11 months (Toke) since he was little he has always been a scared guinea pig, everything i have tryed do far hasnt worked :( i was wondering if any of you guys had any ideas

Toke gets hand fed fresh greens every day, he has free roam of the livingroom floor he is also handled on a daiey basis

Get him a friend :)
Guineas are social animals and love being with their own kind :)
 
He just needs a confident friend to play with with, you'll see a whole other side to him. Pigs shouldn't live alone unless you've at least tried a few times at introductions :)
 
I agree with the others.

The best thing is to find Toke a friend he can be with. Ideally you want to find a reputable rescue where you can Toke, so he can make his own choice of companion; if they have a range of younger and older boars he could be tried with would be ideal. If you do not want to go that way, you can try and get him a baby friend.

Otherwise, it is a long game of patience and persistence. Talk to him as much as you can and turn everything into a ritual. Some piggies are very timid and it is hard to work past that.
