My piggies have been on the science selectI've. ..purple bag.. now all their lives... they are just over 1 year old and I'm concerned regards to the alfalfa content and was trying to get a healthier alternative for them. Tried Harringtons optimum .. don't like. And just started on the mint burgess excel...again not going down well. Anyone been on the science selective and sucess fully transfered to another... or is it safe to just stay on them?

I used to feed Burgess Excel (mint ones) and switched to a grainless one. Tried a few but the only one they ate was Versele Laga Cavia Complete which they really enjoy!

I've found it easy to get my pigs on new nuggets as I mix and change quite a lot. I suppose it's more difficult if they've only been on one thing.

Maybe try Rosewood grainless? My piggies liked that straight away.

Had no trouble with Ronnie and Geoff, gradually mixed in Oxbow adult over a 2-3 week period but they were picking out and eating the Oxbow first from day 1 !
Samson and Weasel though have been completely different and after 3-4 weeks will leave all the Oxbow at the bottom of the bowl!:mal:

I also switched to Versele Laga Cavia Complete recently, after a brief use of Science Selective (before that it was Zupreem Timothy Naturals which they suddenly took a dislike to). Lily loved it straight away and now eats all of them every day. It has been the clear favourite so far and the ingredients look good. Another reason I like it is that they sell it in smaller 500g packs as well as the big packs so it keeps fresher - useful as I currently only have one piggy.
