In February, my 4 year old sow had a bladder stone removed which was blocking her urethra. She has a GA and was absolutely fine. No problems. I was told to change her diet, so I did and I stopped all high calcium foods (leafy greens, parsley etc). Despite this, she has developed another, which isn't as large as the first one, but it is still there. She is weeing OK, and her bladder was empty when the vet checked tonight, so this means that she can empty is, although it is still a problem and needs to be removed.
She will be having a GA Friday to remove it. Of course I am worried again. When they remove it, they are going to send the stone off for analysis to see whether it is calcium based or something else.
I am really worried and I don't understand how she has developed another. He wee is very milky and gritty and so is that of my other guinea pig (although hers is more yellow). I really don't understand.
They do have access to grass for around 3-4 hours a day and I am worried that this is the cause. Should I keep them off the grass?
I am so confused now. Is there anything I can do to help her not develop anymore?
