Aaargh meg stop chewing the bars!
She's always in season a couple of days after the girls and stands at the bars rattling them loudly. She is so loud it stops us watching the telly.

Omg, Rach, where have I been? I didn't notice you had your own account?

Bless Meggy Poo!

Xx

Bless Meg! They can be loud, can't they? rolleyes

Tegyd has kept me awake the other night until 3am by constantly humping her protesting friends and chasing them up and down the ramp and round the squeaking cage. By 4.30am, I was woken up by Heulwen with a high volume chirping performance. I really hope for an end to the heat wave so I can move back in the bedroom again! After all, there are only another 18 girls currently sharing the living room with me that will come into season at some point... mallethead

At least Heulwen has waited until after 7am with her singing performance this morning!

Multiple-sows-in-season times are plain and simple crazy! Due to the air being saturated with pheromones and high drama, they trigger off any other sow near her own season, so the madness lasts about for three days non-stop in all cages.

When you have about two or three girls and lastly a rather exasperated neutered boar chasing after each other, and the first one in the row suddenly stops with the other piling on each other's backs, it's like watching a humping train crash in slo mo... Sadly, they have never lasted long enough for me to get a decent picture!

I have had similar happen with my herd Wiebke, it's hilarious. My poor boar Barney doesn't know what's hit him when 1 sow is in season let alone a few at a time. He is away with the fairies at the best of times and it confuses him. He is also not good at realising when the season is over and he should not be persuing them quite so much. Certain sows completely change their character when in season - Star is so timid and on the edge of the group but when in season she comes alive and the first day Barney arrived she lept on his back from on top of one of the beds. Fuzzy is a nightmare when in season, the others all take a wide berth.

Here is the bar rattling

and a close up....
