Hi All
I have a piggy, Biscuit, who developed a very large cyst that then burst.
We were in self isolation when it happened, so contacted the Vet desperately trying to find out what to do.
The Vet did a phone consultation, and ended up prescribing some anti-bionics, an anti-inflammatory, and some hibiscrub. They advised we will have to squeaze it until nothing comes out.
The cyst started out about the size of a golf ball, but is now about 1/4 of that after we got quite a significant amount of pus/gunk out.
We've been very gentle, but after 5 days of this, she is getting very anxious and wont let us near the wound. We are continuing to wash with Hibiscrub, but are at a loss as to what to do next.

She's got quite a nasty scab formed over it, and the wound is about the size of a 10p piece, and it looks a bit like a crater. The ridge still has a fair amount of the nasty stuff in it, but we just can't get it out without really distressing her.

Obviously with the situation as it is now, the Vet wont see any animals unless it is a life or death emergency.

So - is this normal? As long as we keep it clean and give her the medication, will it heal over?

Or should we be insisting the Vet get her in?

Hi!

Please contact your vet again tomorrow, discuss the problem and ask for their ongoing advice.

Unfortunately it is not very pleasant having to express the cheesy filling instead of having a lumpectomy (lump removal operation), nor is it very pleasant to look at. And it is really unpleasant but necessary to work the scab off... :(

Which county are you roughly located?

@furryfriends (TEAS)

THanks -we are in Kent.
We have been getting bits of scab off - particularly around the rim., But it's inside that;'s the trouble. We can't tell the difference between what is her flesh and what is the 'nastyness'

Best speak to your vet and if possible send a picture so they can judge the state of it.

Here is our recommended vet locator; we rely on member recommendations so it is not comprehensive. I am very sorry about the bad timing!
