COVID-19 Second dose illness

Hi everyone, just wondering if the second dose of your vaccine made you feel poorly? I had mine yesterday and feel very very poorly, I have bad pains in my feet arms and legs, and have a fever. It doesn’t feel right :( hate to complain but it just doesn’t feel ok

I had my second dose of Pfizer on Sunday afternoon. I did not have any effects after my first jab and the nurse warned me that they were finding people who were ok after their first, often felt a bit unwell after the second. On Monday I had muscle aches and felt a bit foggy headed, took paracetamol and by Tuesday I felt fine.
 
I’ve called my gp and they’re going to ring back this morning. Honestly feel so bad, I’m getting like stabbing pains in my feet and legs which are making it impossible to sleep :( x
 
I’ve had two doses of Astra Zeneca. I was poorly after the first but fine after the second.

If they say it’s fine you can dose up on paracetamol and sleep if off. But I’d want that reassurance. Hope you feel better soon.
 
My son had his first dose of Pfiizer and had fever and sickness the day after, second dose a few days ago and fine. It’s weird how everyone reacts differently. Hope you are feeling better very soon @Rivervixen x
 
My MIL had similar after her 2nd dose of Pfizer. Her hands and feet swelled up too. She spoke to the GP and he gave her pain killers for a few weeks which helped. The swelling didn't go down after that so now she is on steroids which seems to be helping.
 
My MIL was very poorly after her second dose of AstraZeneca. So poorly in fact she had to phone in sick at work and go to bed. A call to your doctor would be a good idea. I hope you feel better soon x

Thank you both. The doctor called me back and said it’s all normal and just to keep resting. I took more paracetamol which eased the leg/foot pains enough for me to sleep x
 
My mom got super sick after her second shot. She had a fever, chills, and couldn't get off the couch for a few days. My husband is getting his second soon and I'm a little nervous about it as he has apparently reacted poorly to some vaccines in the past. He felt mostly just tired after the first shot so I hope it goes as well as that one. I'm still on the waiting list so I'm not sure how I will react yet. I hope you feel better soon!

I’m sorry to hear about your mom :( it’s so rough on some people! Best of luck to your husband, it’s definitely knocked me on my bum xx

Apparently it's pretty common. I'm not getting my second shot until next week, but I was sick after the first one (fever and body aches and headache, mainly.) One of my kids was sick after the first one too. We probably had COVID very early in the pandemic but couldn't be tested because at the time they wouldn't test anyone who hadn't travelled (they went to full lockdown less than a week after we were sick and started testing everyone then.)

My husband and son had their second vaccine a couple weeks ago... husband threw up repeatedly that night and had a fever and son had a fever and body aches. Now about two-weeks post-shot my son has hives which could potentially be a delayed vaccine reaction (but could also be an allergic reaction to something unrelated.)

I think it is just different for everyone really.
I have had friends who have been seriously poorly for a few days after each vaccine and other's with little or no reaction.
3 of our 4 family members have been done and none of us experienced any real side effects (other than feeling a bit tired with a sore arm) after any of the jabs.
The 14 year old will be done on Tuesday so hopefully she will breeze through as well.
 
When you have a baby they get jabbed pretty early for loads of diseases all in one go - it was about 12 weeks old for the first lot for my son in one big mixed needle. They said this one should be fine but you get a more pronounced reaction to the booster a few weeks later. He had a horrendous reaction to the first and was up all night screaming - we were on the point of going to A&E when he finally settled a bit. He was a few days trying to get back to normal though. I was terrified for the booster dose but guess what - not a peep. Then a few years later I was an absolute mess taking my daughter in for her baby jabs and she never even blinked. No trouble at all for any of them. Everyone is certainly different! He had no side effects with his first Pfizer, we will see about the second. Daughter is 14 and won't be jabbed in this country yet but when I asked her if she'd take up any offer of a covid vaccine she just shrugged and said, "Might as well - they've stuck me for everything else!"

My friend (mid-50s) is double jabbed but currently having a hard time fighting off delta covid. I think she's over the worst but she was so shocked to have caught it at all and then to be ill - the fear of what might happen next when we had been feeling 'safe' has made her struggle even worse I think. A timely lesson to us all about still being cautious. Take care piggy people x
 
It’s worth remembering that there is no guarantee that you won’t get COVID, even if vaccinated. It reduces the risk but that risk is not zero. If you do get it then you will likely be less ill (so if you are very ill with it then you might consider it a lucky escape as that could well be much less ill than otherwise…). But importantly if you do have it your viral load is likely to be much lower, significantly reducing the likelihood of you giving it to anyone else.

I was diagnosed positive on asymptomatic screening through work but none of my household got it, so the public health team would argue that the vaccine worked on the basis that I didn’t spread it to anyone else. (I didn’t see anyone whilst not wearing ppe. If I had it at all the presumed culprit was the petrol pump as that was the only place I’d been beside work but if I didn’t share it with people I share a home with, a passing person on a forecourt is vanishingly unlikely to have got it)

Ah I’m so pleased. Usually side effects from jabs are short lived so I’m pleased the worst of it is gone. X

Best of luck! Mine was fortunately over quite fast though the day felt very long with what was happening! x
 
I felt after worse after my 1st pfizer. Very tired, a bit sick, typical arm ache and brain fog.
My second my arm was painful, and felt tingling. A mild headache.
 
I had my second on Sunday. Aside from a sore (to the touch) arm, no other symptoms. I don’t know if that’s a good thing…
