Wally Whiskers has an ulcerated eye, makes my legs go funny just thinking about it poor boy. He has returned home from the vets with antibiotic eye drops, painkillers ( metacam ) and oral antibiotics. This is all for his "good" eye ( cataract in the other one) and obviously this has also had an impact on how he feels and so is affecting his appetite. He's got to go back Monday to see how things are going, big positive vibes please for him and his eye. 8...

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear this. I really hope he gets better soon and is not too stressed from having the eye drops.

I think it's my husband who's the most stressed, bless him. I had long distance friends coming to visit today and they were already on their way when I saw Wally's eye so asked my better half to leave work early ( a particularly hectic day at work and he's in charge and finds it difficult to delegate sometimes so always difficult for him to leave others "to it" ) to take Wally Whiskers to the vets. Vicki wisely asked him to wait outside while they explored Wally's eye ( I think A would have passed out if he'd had to watch ). Oh my poorly piggies, I hope they all feel better soon and Wally gets to keep his eye. :laluot_10:

oh no.... :(
hope he's feeling soon better...!
lots of healing vibes and wheeky kisses from the rescue piggies...
x

Poor boy! I hope he'll feel better soon! Thankfully, eye infections tend to clear as quickly as they come on. It's usually just the first 2-3 days that are really tricky while the eye is still very painful.

I find it much easier to get the drops in when the piggy in question is cery much absorbed wrapping itself around its favourite food (grass is sadly a bit hard to come by atm).

I'm going to be out doing a lot of grass scissor trimming in the garden over the next few days as Yoshi and Wally Whiskers are both off their food and the only thing they'll get out of bed for is freshly trimmed green spaghetti.

I'm worried about Yoshi, he's not eating anything ( apart from a bit of grass this afternoon and the critical care but not much of that either ) and he's very listless. I have started him on the Septrin and will be keeping a very close eye on him.

Pro C Pro Biotic

I'm wondering if I should get some pro biotic for Yoshi and Wallace and if so is Pro C okay? As much as I hate P@H if I want to get some a.s.a.p I'll probably have to get some from there and that looks like the only one they stock.

I've got Daisy on Pro C probiotic at the moment as she is on Septrin. I just sprinkle some on her food but you will have to make some up as liquid & syringe it or use the liquid to make up his Critical Care if he isn't eating much.

I'm really sorry Yoshi is so poorly. Is he pooing okay?

No, he's not pooing much ( although when he does I don't think they're as dry as they were) which is why I'm worried and why Vicki wanted him on critical care.

Oh poor Lad! You're really going through it with your piggies at the moment, sending him my get well vibes...x

Yoshi's just eaten a bit of cucumber, which is something I suppose.

Wally seems to have found his appetite thank goodness, I'm assuming that's the Metacam making him feel a bit better.

I wish Yoshi would perk up a bit. :(

your poor piggies :(
hope yoshi picks up soon, bad enough with one sick piggie let alone 2
how are they both doing?

Thanks guys, quick update:
Well, yesterday Wally's eye was looking so bad we thought he'd definitely lose it, which would be awful for him because it's his good eye but today it's looking slightly better ( in so much as it can, it really does look worryingly gruesome ) so we're cautiously optimistic for the moment.

Yoshi is still showing no interest in food, he just wants to sleep, he's also losing loads of hair ( although he still looks very fluffy ), he's always been quite moulty but I could knit a jumper with the amount of fur that's coming off him at the mo. I've been giving him Critical Care at regular intervals but even that's a battle because he really doesn't want anything and just wants to be left alone. Having said that he doesn't like being picked up and faffed with at the best of times, would rather be fussed in his house.

To look at him he still looks bright eyed and bushy tailed, his coat's shiny and when he wants to move he's moving around fine but he's got a wet tummy from lying in his own wee and poo which he's done a few more of so that's a bit of a relief (I gave him a gentle sponge bath yesterday, that was not appreciated).
He also has a permanently wet chin ( which is why Vicki has added looking at his teeth to the friday list of things to do when he's under, she couldn't see anything wrong with them on Thursday though and got a fairly good look at left and right molars). The lump under his chin seems very hard ( I'm wondering if it's affecting his swallowing which would explain him not wanting to eat ) so I'll be taking him in to the vets tomorrow with Wally rather than wait for his friday appt. but this means he won't be seeing Vicki, his regular vet.

They're both on antibiotics and Pro C probiotic and Wally's on metacam and Tiacil eye drops too.
