Seed Head In Velvet's Eye

This morning I noticed a seed head in Velvet's Eye. She has a vet appointment at 4.15 this afternoon. I can't see this any more but I'm still going to take her in case there is something in her eye still that I can't see. I hope she OK! This morning there was white gunk in her eye but it appears to have gone now.

Hi! Good that you have got a vet appointment.

The seed head is like wedged under a lid. If the gunk is a clear milky white, it is cleaning fluid. If it is slightly bluish/greyish tinged then it means that there is ulceration/abrasion of the surface somewhere. Removal of the seed head and some eye drops from your vet should take care of it all.
 
The gunk was a clear milky white so that sounds hopeful. I have some eye drops still in date left over from when Christian had hay poke last week. I'll ask the vet if I can use them on Velvet. The end of the tube never touched his eye.

Have just returned from the vet. The seed head had started to imbed into Velvet's eyelid :yikes:OUCH! She has ulceration on her eye now so that must have been very sore indeed:soz:. I can use the drops that I had for Christian which is good. Twice a day for 7 days.

Oh bless her, a good job you got her in quickly at the vets. I'm sure she will start to feel better soon
 
I sure she will. Am going away on Sunday until Tuesday so have arranged for my friend to come and do the last few eye drops!

Of poor velvet that sounds horrible! So glad you got her to a vet so quick and that he could see what otherwise may have been missed.
 
Aww glad you got Velvet sorted, eyes are so fragile but they heal incredibly quickly generally with the correct & speedy treatment, hopefully she's on the road to recovery now ?

I just want to say that @Betsy was a perfect perfect example of why it is important to go to the vets ASAP with eye injuries. Velvets eye was appearing to be better but if @Betsy had left if then it could have degraded very fast possibly even resulting in permanent vision damage.
