Some of you may remeber me posting about an add on gumtree for a rabbit living with a piggie. I emailed him and said you know rspca guidlines etc. When he replied i realised i know him!

Anyway ive just had a call from my mum. Turns out SHE has the piggie. She persuaded him to spit them and she took in the pig.

She has 3 others so ive told her to keep him (assuming he has been sexed right, which i doubt) in a seperate room from the others and wash her hands/arms after handling him and ideally change clothes.

She has said he is underweight "all skin matted fur and no meat on him".

Unfortunatly my mother is crap at bathing, clipping and health checks in general.

I'm going to bring nyzerol (wondering i should consider not bathing him though as he is underweight?), insecticidel powder, daktarin, metacam, feroglobin, syringe, gloves, nail clippers, medihex and some of Bilbos fancy food to put some weight on. anything else?

Obviously I'm not going to use all of this on him just bringing things for stuff he may potentially have wrong with him.

If i feel he needs a vet asap luckily the vet i use is on her road and i will of course get him in.

I'm a bit resentful for being put in this situation yet again by her and having to use my own supplies. If only she would learn a few things for herself. but what can i do? cant leave him.

yeah he's vile..hes like to take..trying to say this without offending children....erm..he like to partake in the digesting of taking things he shouldn't...if you catch my drift ;)

hmmm i think you can tell from the piccy! I always worry about animals that are with people that 'abuse' substances, how can they put these babies first?

off to bed now hon, good luck, hope he is ok xx

Stupid stupid people!mallethead What will happen to the poor rabbit? I am glad your mother has rescued the poor piggy. At least you will ensure the piggy is going to be looked after. I wish it was harder to get animals so people like that could not get them.:(

Ive emailed him begging him to please take the rabbit to freshfields rescue!

I'm on a 10-6.30 tomorrow at work so this is gonna annoy me all day long. Gotta bring my piggie first aid kit in with me to! hope i dont get searched...

I wonder if he will bother as he seems so lazy just putting them on gumtree like they are nothing. There are so many rabbits for free on there. It is so sad. :(

In the original add he wanted £40 for them!

That really annoys me when people want rid of a pet AND want you to pay for the pleasure!

Like my two girls off gumtee (who are lovely btw) they wanted me to pick them up. which i never do unless it's a rescue. I dont think it's unreasonable want someone who is abandoning an animal to at least drop them off!

When i see him I'm going to give him a good slap right in the kite!!!

I got my girls of gumtree, paid and collected them. I wanted to adopt but places refused as I do not have a garden. At least I know I am giving them a good home. That man sounds so awful! Why did he get the poor animals in the first place? Loser.

I'm tempted to email saying i will take the bunny BUT i dont have a cage or anything.. :(

Maybe take the bunny and ensure he goes to a rescue. i know id want to keep him though.

Do you have space for the bunny? You could always just take the poor thing straight to a rescue. I do not even understand what he means in the advert by the coffee table is a hutch? That sounds awful.

I dont have space but space could be made! My mum has space though she could **** house him temp.

I think he plans on getting a tortiose for the coffee table "hutch". I may get onto the rspca after ive seen the piggie with what he has done and his intentions.

I'm going to ask my mum if she will consider trying him out with my loan boys to see if we can pair him. Two of my loans are in massive cages so that wouldnt be an issue space/cage wise. My mate work in tesco and calls me before they close with loads of reduced veggies so that wouldnt be an issue either.

How can he get another animal when he does not even want the ones he has! You should contact the RSPCA. He sounds very dodgey to me. Well why not ask your mum if she could take the bunny and if not just take the poor thing straight to a rescue? It is awful to think of that man with any animal.

To the OP, you're awesome for trying to help! ...shame that he will probably continue to get animals and dump them off on other people when he gets bored with them, though.

I wanted to adopt but places refused as I do not have a garden.

I know this is OT, but...what would it matter for a guinea pig if you don't have a yard? ...isn't that what y'all call 'gardens'? ...a pig can live just as long and perfectly content with someone in an apartment just the same as me, who owns my own house with a front and back yard...? That's a weird reason. Unless I'm missing something...which is highly likely...

You are so right! I tried to adopt from the RSPCA and was informed it is essentail for guinea pigs to have access to a garden and they refused. I totally disagree with that. My girls are very happy indoors.

Same. This is why i have never attempted to adopt from them! i think you need a hand written letter from god!

I can see why they are strict but turning away good homes on a reason like that is ridiculous.

I'm in a studio with 8 piggies and they are all happy campers! the do have more room in here than me though!

I think that's silly. I really do...I've let my girls in the grass outside twice...in a year. They get their vegetables, local hay, and I even attempted to grow my own wheat grass for them...I think that's a crazy reason to deny adoption. Bah! Now my feather's are all ruffled... haha!

Lol that is so true! Wow we have a lot in common! I have a studio too! My bunny has an area with his towel (he is a house bunny) and the girls have a 6 by 3 c and c cage. I have no space myself! Haha!

I agree with you. That means many piggies are left there just because somebody does not have a garden. My girls are so healthy and it is better they are indoors with no garden then outside forgotten about in a hutch like some are.

My house may as well be a studio, it's only 800 sqft. The pigs had a 17.5 sqft palace before I downgraded to a 2x4 for lack of fleece. Hopefully next weekend, they can get back their normal space when I hit the fabric store after Monday's paycheck!

My house is full of animals, and you definitely have to weave through them to do human things. Haha!

Haha! I bought £40 worth of fleece for my girls only to find I do not have enough! I will have to go back when I next get some money.

Well done on your mum for getting piggie, hope you can sort out bunny too.

Crawley Guinea Pig Rescue rehomes to people in flats, in fact I can think of 3 people who I have rehomed to who live in flats, they all use C&C and sometimes have bigger set ups than hutch/run piggies. So please think of us if your in the south london/surrey/sussex areas.

Oh goodness me - grrrr Poor little mites - well done for spotting this and rescuing the piggy, hope the bun can be sorted too :)
And he wants a tortoise - how long will that last I wonder :o
As someone else suggested, wish it was harder to aquire pets but after reading how people without gardens get turned away from rescues, you can buy animals from any pet shop and that's where the problems and heartaches start grrrr Bit of a contradiction as many aspiring owners do have large C&C. Ours have 12ft pens my OH built because we wanted them indoors 24/7 - going a bit tangeant now mallethead
Keep us updated pls x>>
If this guy is one of 'those' - should be ashamed of himself. We don't allow anyone to smoke near our piggies and noise is minimal- we have rigid rules :)

Hi guys,

only just caught up on this thread but i remember seeing something about this a while ago. Glad you are getting the piggy out of this situation and hopefully the bunny!

Just to let you know i am adopting Finley on Saturday from the RSPCA and i don't have a garden, they were happy with my home set up...maybe different areas have different rules?

Oh that is interesting. Maybe they do have different rules depending on the area then. Bet you cannot wait to get him home. :)

update on the little piggie who has been named Pogle.

He is a gorgeous little dude! very inquisitive and gave me kisses.

Apart from matted fur, overgrown nails and being in desperat need of a bath i cant see anything else wrong with him. he is really tiny, still only a baby. his balls havnt dropped yet lol so i reckon hes coming up to hormones.

We tried him with Percy my mothers loan boyand i think it may work. Ususally when he gets a wiff of another boy he goes mental chattering and stuff. i only tried them together because he could smell him on a cussion id been using and popcorned all over the place. when they were together there was about 1 min of rumbleing then Pogle just followed Percy around. Unusual for Percy hes usually really agressive. Ive told her to put the cages next dsoor to each other and let them out together each day.

weve agreed if they dont like each other Pogle will come to mine for a week or so to try him out with my loans. would be better all round if we can pair some up i reckon.

hes been quarantined for two weeks already btw. I'm certain he's clean.

Ive emailed the guy about the bunny but he hasnt replied :( I'm going to keep an eye on gumtree and email him from my other account.

My mother really bugs me hough. She NEVER baths her pigs herself EVER. Ive tried to show her several times what to do and what sort of thing to look for but no. Last time she was busy watching tv. It really winds me up. no responsibility whatsoever.

Oh how cute he gave you kisses already! He is just a little baby. How sad he was already taken from his siblings. It sounds so positive that the boar took so well to him.

Does your Mum have long haired piggies? I rarely bath my girls. They are so clean and have short hair. When I got them I bathed them as they were dirty. How can a little piggy be dirty? It must mean the owner did not keep the cage clean.

Do you think that may mean the rabbit has been taken by somebody?
