Kiwi, my 1 year old boar has just had quite a bad seizure. He had one a few months back due to mites however this one was way different and is not due to mites because I now treat all of my pigs regularly for them. He rolled onto his back and was fitting for about 10-15 seconds, and then stood up and came round properly shortly after. He seems his normal self again now but I'm worried sick. I can't afford the vets at the minute so that's not really an option. I've been doing some reading around what can causes seizures and have now worries myself even more, has anyone got any other causes of seizures other than mites and heat, as it is not either of these. I can also almost probably rule out ear infection as he has no other signs.

There is no way anyone can guess whats wrong and I would strongly recommend a vets visit.

I would also stop regular mite treatment as you are likely doing more harm than good unfortunately. Shop brought treatments are generally not strong enough to kill mites and applying regularly doesn't work as a preventative measure but rather allows any mites to build up a resistance to the active ingredients which can make future outbreaks much harder to get rid of

There are many causes to seizures, from neurological issues like epilepsy to strokes, ear infections (especially when the infection is going into the brain), which are very difficult to trace and require a thorough vet examination. Depending on the cause, there can be rather little you can do.
It can even be that his first seizure was a coincidence rather than being caused by an advanced case of mange mites (seizures don't usually happen in mild mange mites cases that are being treated with a good quality product promptly; please do NOT use cheap low dosed shop products that are just wasted money).

If you can't afford vet care, I would strongly advise you to save up what you can every week in order to be able to see a vet whenever necessary. Illness and emergencies never happen at a good time. If the seizures continue, you will have see a vet at some point, preferably sooner rather than later!
