Hi,

Last time I went to the vets, I was recommended seleen shampoo for potential skin issues.

The vet told me you have to either wear gloves or rinse hands thoughroughly after use.

I’m wondering as it may be harmful to me, would it at all be harmful to my piggys?

Would you recommend me using the shampoo at all and does anyone know exactly what issues this treats?

Thanks

It isn't clear in your post if you are treating an actual skin issue, and if so what the problem is.
I don't think you need to use anything for 'potential' skin issues - just good care, a clean cage, and a balanced diet should keep skin in good condition.

If you do need to shampoo for some reason I would recommend Gorgeous Guineas products, or at the very least a proper pet shampoo specifically formulated for small animals.
I think a lot of human products are too astringent for a guinea pigs delicate skin.

The seleen shampoo was recommended for Flash.

He was very itchy had crusts on his rump when I first got him.

I have already treated him with xeno 450, gorgeous guineas manuka and neem and lastly tried nizoral shampoo for fungal, along with Fifi. Fifi had no symptoms but I thought I'd treat her anyway.

His condition greatly improved, his skin cleared up, but has had a bit if hair loss. He now goes hours without itching but when he does itch he seems quite bothered by it. In comparison to Fifi, who is less itchy, he is definitely the more itchy one.

The vet recommended the shampoo to see if it would help.
