Because this is something we have to live with. Children with no health issues don’t fill hospitals if they get COVID. Potentially they take it home but their family should be vaccinated. The vaccination breaks the link between illness and admission. All school staff have had the opportunity to be vaccinated with an increasing number getting their second. All those vulnerable by medical needs and age should be long done.
Apart from anything else, when teachers can go and sit in a pub and watch the football and leap about and hug, I expect my kid to be able to sit and work without a mask. The teacher in the pub puts on their mask to go to the loo and move around, putting on a mask in the corridor is the same for the kids so I have no objection to that.
The rules around kids isolating need looking at too, there rightly has been an abundance of caution but it needs looking at in the context of risk with the vaccines as their education is being destroyed. We need to protect health but we also need to look after their future.
Yea it's long covid . How long though that's the scary part . What if it's permanent . We had paramedics round a few months ago and she went hopsitsknto be checked through the eyes and no problems were found . Did a few other tests aswell. Think they checked for clots , tumours etc.Sorry to hear that @Vegetable_Monster long COVID. One of the TAs in the class I’m in really suffered and has long COVID.
Eldest daughter’s Lf came back positive. She’s done the PCR so now just a matter of waiting. Better in one go than separate I guess.
You took that waaaaay more personally than it was intended. There was no vitriol from this end, however you can choose to read it in whatever way you wish. I’m sorry your friends and family are choosing not to see you. I have met with several of my teacher friends. In the pub as it happensWow. You dont know me, how I live and my family situation. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to have done to have your vitriol directed at me. I'm a human and deserve the same protection as everyone else.
When kids were told not to wear masks in schools I was completely unvaccinated. Even now I have only had my 1st dose. School staff were not prioritised for vaccines so I still have some colleagues who only had their 1st vaccine within the last week. I live with people who are extremely clinically vulnerable. Even though kids dont tend to get as ill they still come into contact with adults like me. Many of my colleagues are also extremely clinically vulnerable.
The only reason you dont wear masks in a pub is that it's pretty hard to eat and drink with a mask on and contact with bar staff is extremely limited. They drop drinks off at our table then leave. Its only recently we've been allowed inside. School staff are in close contact with kids our whole day. Besides none of me or my colleagues are going to the pub for football or whatever else. Ive been twice (only once inside) since coming out of lockdown to see my nearest and dearest who are too scared to see me because they're worried about getting COVID off me.
I'm still contacted multiple times a day by HR as kids in my classes have tested positive. At the point of it being announced on national TV that kids dont have to wear masks I had just been contacted twice from HR as 2 of my Y9s in thesame class had tested positive. Since being told not wear masks cases in school sky rocketed. While kids where not required to wear masks in school we had school staff who had caught COVID in school and have been incredibly sick long term. At one point we had 2 whole departments of staff off with COVID.
Masks don't stop a child's education. But it significantly reduces the spread of COVID. This means more kids can stay in school to get an education and staff can be there to educate them.
Thank you. She’s feeling okay today. But yesterday had a bad headache, enough to reduce her to tears. I’ll still keep an eye on them though.
I had the eldest do a lateral flow which came out negative.

Oh and as for protection, my husband is an early years teacher and so has had no masks for himself or his children throughout![]()
I'm so sorry to hear that she is feeling so rough @Siikibam. I hope that she soon feels better.Thank you. She’s feeling okay today. But yesterday had a bad headache, enough to reduce her to tears. I’ll still keep an eye on them though.

Thank you. She’s gone back to bed with a headache. Hopefully that will be the worst of it.I'm so sorry to hear that she is feeling so rough @Siikibam. I hope that she soon feels better.
I have no objection to them wearing masks, although like you I wouldn't expect them to wear them in an exam situation. I just wish they would make a decision and stick to it,
am quite fed up of doing LFT as are my children but they are not made to wear masks on the bus, not wearing masks in class but some communal areas they are? You either wear them or you don't.
Thank you. I hope no one in my youngest’s class picked it up. I’ve had sort of good news so had a positive boost amongst the drudgery
The self isolation will give me time to work on my evidence for QTs and get things done. But I will miss the classI’m also glad I was negative as it means the class I’m in don’t have to miss out.
I like referencing the standards on their observation. It’s not evidence as such. We have to write a reflection. On the teaching standards, saying how we have met them etc. Also have to complete a QTS tracker with the mentor. I have to update the current one with those from term 1. My official finish date is 19th July. Not long to go so is better start writing! When I did my training there was 32 (ish) standards to evidence! Glad my time of evidence gathering is done. I feel your pain with this!
I dont have my trainee teachers gather evidence. I tell uni they've met the standard and we're done with it. We've never been asked to provide evidence.
If they were ever called to provide evidence I number the standards they have met on their lesson observations anyway, the lesson observations are all stored in one booklet. Any extra activities they do (shadowing students with SEN, case studies, in house training etc) are all done in a booklet that are also numbered with the standards. Takes seconds to do at the time and saves the massive paper work task. No idea how far you are through your QTS but this might help. Best of luck![]()

Thank you. DD1 had a headache yesterday and had a nap. She ate a little for lunch but not much dinner at all. They’re slim so can’t really afford to not eat@Siikibam hope everyone is feeling a bit better today![]()
She is, thank you. No headache today which was good. They’re both just coughing. The youngest took herself off for a nap in the afternoon though. I’ve relaxed my rule on ‘snacks’ for today. They had some tortillas and chocolate biscuits, and chocolate…Chocolate ice cream might work.
Hope she’s beginning to feel a bit better now
Thank you. Kids seem okay now and pretty much recovered. Youngest did take herself off for a nap yesterday afternoon. Otherwise no more headaches, just coughing.@Siikibam Hope everyone is feeling a bit better and you are managing a bit of time for yourself in-between looking after the children. X
