Selling enclosures, concerned about tax on them?

Hello :) I have been building guinea pig enclosures myself since I started owning them (mostly expanding on current enclosure but occasionally replacing it for something better) and will be selling them off. I was wondering if I should be paying tax on this sale because very little tax was paid on the items to build it? I don't want to end up with HMRC on my tail! I've looked at sites like this tax tool but can't find much else on it so was wondering if someone here could help me out?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry I have no idea about the tax.
You could phone HMRC and ask about it.
They can be quite helpful.

If you are running this to earn money then yes you should be declaring your self employment and completing yearly self assessments to determine how much tax you pay. You can claim for your costs of running the business. Also, if you are not otherwise employed then your earnings may fall within your tax allowance and you can claim exemption from national insurance contribution based on low income. The best thing to do is call HMRC and ask them about it, I have found them quite helpful on the phone (once you get through)
