I have booked my 2 boys into small animal boarding for a week when we go away. They are both 4 years old and have always lived together, In previous years they have gone to a friend in their own cage. I'm just wondering if being in a different hutch without their own familiar smells and in a shed containing other guinea pigs could cause problems? I would hate for them to fall out when they have always got on so well.

I thought this the first time mine went to a holiday place. The lovely ppl on here reassured me they would love it being able to chat to other pigs and having a new place to mooch about in. As mine are on fleece and have fleece hideys the lady who looks after them was really kind about my needs for them and used their bedding the fleece. They are staying in the same cage aren't they, there not being separated?

Speak to 'boarding' place I'm sure they will reassure you.
Send along some of their toys and bedding if possible/allowed.
I bet they have a Wheeky good time

They will be in the same hutch yes.

I will have some of their hay in the carrier so will leave that with them, that will have their smell on. My main worry is if there are girly pigs in the shed and my boys smell them, will it get them excited and cause problems between them?

Just chipping in with my experience... I have 3 pairs of boys. I recently agreed to temporarily board 3 girls for an acquaintance - I was also worried that having them in the same room might cause trouble between my boys.

The boys definitely know the girls are there - but I've had no problems with fighting or other issues - not even with my super-hormonal, 1-year-old pair. Everybody settled down really quickly.

Just my experience :)
