My lovely cream long hair has such sensitive skin from her shoulders down that she won't let you touch her. Although we trim her in the summer I want to let her fur grow out a bit to keep her warm. Under her beautiful top coat she is a mass of rosettes and whirls... I sometimes think, like girls with long hair, that she suffers from "heavy hair days"! Any ideas for something that may help. She tolerates a bath but squeals like blue murder when you brush her or trim her hair.

Welcome to the forum, Deb. :)

Has she ever been treated for mites with Ivermectin, or been bathed in an anti-fungal shampoo? Ruling out an actual skin condition is the first step.

I have a similar pig here, a 1 year old Aby sow who has had constantly sensitive skin since three weeks old. I eventually determined that she seems to "carry" a fungal infection which flares up once in a while (presenting symptoms on top of her sensitive skin). I also have an eight month old male long-hair who screams blue murder when you try to brush and trim him; his skin is fine, he's just stroppy!

I have checked Caramel over loads of time. No ticks, lice, cuts.. just sensitive. She's a happy little soul again now, I bit the bullet and trimmed her hair a little shorter. She's been trotting and chirruping around the living room floor for the past half an hour tho!

Gorgeous Guineas do lovely soothing shampoos for pigs with sensitive skin, sometimes you just have to bear with the noise and squealing as it will benefit them alot.
