kalen is 3 weeks old and seems well developed ;D, he needs to be taken away from his mum and sister. he has just got over is uri and i'm not sure what to do :-\

is he to young to go in with another boar and if he can should it be a young or older boar?

i have baby and buddy who use to be caged together but when baby got his head tilt i separated them and only let them together at floor time, well unfortunately i think due to babies blindness and other problems he has become aggressive towards buddy and doesn't want to play with him anymore :'(

buddy is a very tolerent pig and very rarely fought baby back, it's like he knows baby is ill :smitten: buddy is about 14 months old but is a very large pig, would he be to big for a 3 week old piggy?

i now have merlin also caged on his own who was getting picked on but is a strong minded pig, nervous with people. he is 5 months.

baby can't share with anyone, he's now just a spoilt demanding pig but the love of my life :smitten:

buddy is large but caring and i think lonely since baby has stopped having playtime with him :'(

merlin is young and frisky ::)

so which piggy do you think would make a good friend for kalen

I had to read that twice, so many piggies!

If he's three weeks old and getting frisky then he is old enough to come out, however, he shouldn't be housed with an older boar until he is about 5-6 weeks. While he is on his own, have him do floortime with the others and see who gets along with him the best. When he's old enough for an older friend, then you should be able to know who the right buddy is.

However, if one of them just automatically bonds with him and they cuddle up and are incomplete without each other, then he should be fine to go in with that buddy when he's 4-5 weeks old. Hope I could help!

awww. Just thinking Kalen might make Merlin happpier and bring him out more?

I know that my Guin was incredibly shy until he was paired up with Uncle-Ton?

Agree with both what Kelly and Kimmie have said but I would defiantly wait until Kalen is at least six weeks old. The only thing I would add is if you pair him up with an older boar, when that boar dies you are going to have to try and bond Kalen up with another piggy friend. So because of this reason it would be more ideal to pair him up with the youngest boar you have. :)

I agree with kelly as well merlin sounds perfect but at 3 weeks it is a little young still, can you not put him next to merlins cage/run let them spend observed run time together good luck

i confuse myself kimmie ;) i get confused cause i actually have a pig called baby, plus the five new additions over the last 8 weeks ;D that are babies ;D u see very confusing. 98)

thanks all some great info, will follow your advice and let you know what happens.

I separated Fitz from Bijou on Monday, he was 3 wks old & because i have Wilbur in my big cage (in the comp room) suffering with a UTI i had to put Fitz's cage in the same room as Bijou. He called to her constantly & she was going manic trying to find him. I have no room anywhere else so i introduced him to Arthur (an adult boar) & from the moment they met they were friends & are now happily living together. :)
I'd just like to add that altho' he's only 3 wks old he's quite big & weighs 11oz, the same as Bijou weighed when i got her at 6-7wks old.
