Hi, my guinea pig charlie keeps attacking george ! do you think i should separate them ? They would get taken out together and allowed time together under supervision. What do you think ?

Hello

Has he actually shed blood?
How old are they?

If they're just going through a 'teenager' stage and trying to sort out who's boss, then if they're not actually hurting each other I would try and let them sort if out amongst themselves. Make sure they've got plenty of space, and two of everything - hidey holes, food bowls etc. so they don't have to fight for it.

If they are hurting each other, then it would be best to split them for now and try gradually reintroducing them on neutral territory.

What do you mean attacking?

Chasing, mounting, head-butting etc . . although it looks rough, isn't attacking its just dominant behaviour and they're probably having a little argument about something. If your boys are teeth chattering, yawning, nipping and trying to bite each other, then seperatre before it gets serious.

If they'are 3-5 months old then they're probably going through piggie puberty, this often happens with boar pairs around this age. Perhaps you could divide the cage so that can see and smell each other but not hurt each other and reintroduce them once they've calmed down a little. Also with boars you need like two of everything otherwise there is a possibility that they will squabble over something, so make sur ethat within their cage they have two bowls and two waterbottles, two hidey holes etc . . .

I hope they settle things soon :)

mine were fighting and chattering teeth etc...i split them up and divided the cage and run...they are alot better now as they like to see eachother but can't actually hurt eachother as they have their own space....always looking through the divider though at eachother. one had a small stroke so really appreciates his own space now.
