Hi everyone, after some piggy advice please. We've got 2 boars and one of them has been diagnosed with mites by a vet and given a xenon 450 spot on treatment course. He advised separating them for 5 days in case they groom each other and the one not having treatment ingests the medication. He then said that 3 days separation should be okay. We're on day 1.5 and they're not enjoying being separated. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how long did you separate them for? Also are they likely to be more stressed if they can see/squeak to each other or should I keep them further apart. Breaking my heart seeing them try to get back together, feel such a meanie! Got to do it again in 2 weeks and then a month later so need to make it as stress free as I can for them. Thanks

I wasn't told that, I'd put them back together, what weird advice. Plus both of them should be treated or they will just keeping infecting each other.

Ditto to Tiamolly. It's normal to treat all of the pigs in case they all have it. There's no need to separate them.

Thanks both, I've just put them back together and they're much happier now. So sweet seeing them greeting each other! I'll get some more xenon 450 online and treat the other one too, was surprised at the time that he didn't advise treating both.
