Hi

Well, Evie's babies are 3 weeks old today so the time has come to separate them :(. It's perhaps just as well because this morning Treacle (black & golden boy) seems to have had a testosterone rush and is rumblestrutting like mad and trying to mount anythign that moves, I caught Evie giving him a telling off for trying to mount his sister (had to smile!).

They're still not happy being away from mum even for just handling time, we get lots of wheeks so I expect it will be a noisy day like when my father-in-law separates the lambs from their mums.

Wish us luck!

good luck think I would have left it another week though mine tend to leave when 4 to 5 weeks old,

Do you think? I go on another guinea pig forum and the advice is very much 3 weeks. I would be happy to leave them longer but don't want to risk any pregnancies, especially with new homes all lined up.

When I had some mini pigs a while back I took them out at 3 weeks and they were fine!

Eating and grew stong and bold so I wouldnt worry too much about it. I know it seems such a shame to take them out but best to err on the side of caution especially if they are a bit 'forward'.! ;). I hated having to do it too.

Mom might be ready for a bit of a rest too after all her hard work. :)

Awww, I know it's hard and you feel ever so guilty, but it is for the best and they'll soon stop calling. :)

Aw, it is sad isnt it? :'(

When I fostered a cat and her kittens they all went to their new homes on the same day apart from one kitten who was with me another week and she was so sad. She cried and cried and would follow me everywhere, I felt terrible having to leave her to go to work :'(
At least the boys will have each other.

I hate taking babies away from their mums
Liquorice was taken away the other week and I felt so sad for him although his sis stayed with mum
when Chessy and his bro's were babies they all lived with mum and dad in one big hutch and I took him and his bro's and his dad away into another hutch while the only sis stayed with mum
it just feels so cruel
