Ive currently got 2 bonded boars who have access to an out door run, I'm hopefully getting 3 more bonded boars soon....would it be ok for them to share the run - not all at once!....would the smell from the others provoke anything unwanted or would they just get use to it!

Yes I think it would be ok, I have a run and my girls use it as well as the boys. You could try it but weigh up everything first. Your boys may fall out if they smell other guineas. I'm just very lucky with my lot that they are more inquisitive than agressive when it comes to sharing runs.

:)

I had 5 intact boys who all lived separately apart from 2 who were paired & all of them went into the run together & were fine but were supervised, i used to have more trouble with the girls/neutered boys in the run than i ever did with the boys. :)

A pic of the bachelor boys in the run last summer

lovely pic Niki, that would be ideal to be able to let them all have a run about together :)

Thanks :) I must admit i was extremely nervous before hand but it was my vet who suggested it, she has a free-range herd of piggies (sows & boars) who are together in their own groups & did know of someone who had a 20 strong herd of intact boys who got along fine.

If the space is big enough & you're there to stop any poss altercations i don't see a problem. My boys were more interested in munching grass than having a pop at each other. The girls were a different matter :))

2 of my boys live side by side but have play time together - they always have a little niggle at each other at first but soon settle down - however if they can smell one of the others they tend to pester each other for longer. I keep an eye on them at first, but they always end up flopped on the towel together. I would love to be able to put the others in at the same time but too scared of them fighting.

What does one mean exactly by "free range"/ My piggies have 4mete by 5 metre area to run about (indoors in conservatory at for the winter, with cardboard boxes lined with newspaper and vet bed to sleep in..Is this free range or does that mean complete freedom outside all year?

For me free-range means not kept in a hutch/cage. My vets piggies free-ranged in her garden but had hutches filled top to bottom with hay for them to snuggle in. Some peoples piggies free-range in a shed & i would say yours are free-rangers in your conservatory :)
