Hi I'm looking for abit of advice, i had two boars who were together from the day i got them (same litter) i have had to separate due to escalation in behaviour as both now teeth chatter which gets louder and louder, nipping of the back and lunging with mouths open (as if to bite) and lots of bittings to ears. One piggy seems to be far happier with the new set up but the other (most dominant usually) seems to be withdrawn the last couple of days, not leaving hides at all but still eating all his veggies and pellettes etc. Just wondering what i should do?

It sounds like you’ve done the right thing by separating. the dominant pig will be upset by the separation but if the other one is happier, then the relationship was broken.
Sometimes living next door to each other so they can still talk can sometimes be enough to ease loneliness but ideally each piggy would have a new friend - Via boar dating if possible rather than you just choosing another piggy for them there is a chance that they won’t get on with the new companion, or neutering and then getting each a female after their six week wait.

Welcome to the forum, seperating for now is the right thing. How have you separated them? What size cage are they now in?

Hi and welcome!

I am very sorry; you sound like you have two teenage boys whose personalities are clashing. Shop or breeder piggies are not sold for personality matches (which is key for a successful boar bond) but for looks.

Once there are serious bits to the ears, face or rumps, they will never go back together, unfortunately.

Please take the time to read this guide here. You will hopefully find it very helpful. Your future options depend to a lage extent on your location and access to good rescues that offer boar dating, good vets, your financial and space restrictions, so there is no one solution that fits all.
