Septrin dosage.

Panda suffers from recurrent breathing problems/ infections. She has had a very long course of baytril, she used to have terramycin but didnt do too well on it. We are now trying septrin can anybody advise me on what dosage I should be looking at. Panda is a rather chunky 1500g. Thanks.
 
I would contact the vet who prescribed it to be on the safe side -
I always keep a small amount of meds in the piggies first aid box for dire emergencies but would always ring for advice first :)
 
I have a boar on it at the moment, he's having 0.5mls twice a day...but I don't know how much the vet 'watered' it down by...so definitely check with your vet.
 
Sorry I didn't explain very clearly. I'm picking up the septrin tomorrow but I dont think its a very commonly used drug at the practice so I just wanted to know the usual dosage. Just to double check - so to speak.
 
I've just picked up the septrin and she's on .3ml twice a day. Are there any side effects I should be looking out for. She is having Pro-C probiotic. Thanks.
 
Depending on the strength of the septrin I believe it is 1ml per 1kg for a short term 'fix a problem' dosage. Honey was on 0.7ml twice a day when she had urine issues and she weighed 750g at the time.

However it has been a while since I had any on it ~touch wood~

That dose does seem low for a large piggy but it all depends on the concentration of the septrin.
 
Did he pour from a big bottle into a little one?

The paediatric is what I have AFAIK, it's the standard one, vaguely yellow/banana like? VERY sticky?!
 
It was already dispensed when I got there but it is the yellow/ banana one that I remember from my childhood. I have been reading other posts about the drug and they all seem to be a higher dosage.
