It's an antibiotic and I have used it for UTIs and URIs. It is gentler on the gut than Baytril though I do still give probiotic.
If your vet thinks the issues are gastric though I am not sure why they have given an antibiotic.

When she squeaks, just does sound a bit hoarse, which is a new one to me, as she used to have lovely voice.
