I was in P@H earlier getting the pellets for my secret Santa package as I couldn't wait for them to be delivered. Anyway to cute a long story short I always check on the pigs, especially in the 'adoption centre' I've had to tell the staff to remove flies from the cages before because of fly strike but this was even worse. I went over to one little guy and he was scratching constantly and doing back flips as if he had a serious amount of fleas or something along those lines. I was standing there shaking my head when a woman came along with her child who seemed about 4, obviously the little kid ran straight over to him and begged her mum to take him. I took the opportunity to inform her about the situationand how he will probably need treatment, her only reply was 'well he'll be fine, they should be used to living with bugs in the wild'.... I seriously couldn't hold back and told her if she takes that attitude she isn't fit to care for any living creature. Thank god she walked off and didn't buy him! I can't believe these people actually think they're animal lovers :laluot_32:

I don't know what to do about the pig. He looks like he's in a really bad state, his nails are really long so I'm scared he may cut himself and with all the flipping he could break something. :...

They have to treat him if he needs medical attention. Animal Welfare Act 2006..
Let the staff know.

Thanks, I'll go in tomorrow and see what I can do. Hopefully they'll listen.

As said, throw the Animal Welfare Act at them and still if nothing is done, report them to head office.

As for the woman with the child, is she being serious :o I sincerely hope she doesn't have any pets :(

And as for ignorant people .. I see them all too often! Working in a pet store myself it comes with the job. I have a man that regularly comes in with his son to buy food/supplies for his son's guinea pigs which he always complains about. 'Can't believe I'm spending this much on a pair of rodents' etc etc.

I don't know if this is really true but I have never personally seen a 4 year old capable of taking proper care of a piggie, thats just cruel ugh >.< I hope the poor little guy gets the treatment soon!

To be honest I think too much gets shoved under the carpet when it comes to animals. Such as how they deliberately put tiny rabbit cages next the buns to tempt people into buying them because the cages are such a good deal, the cages aren't even big enough for two pigs! My rabbit would kill herself trying to escape from those things.

Back to the piggie, I'll go in tomorrow and tell them. They won't do anything to get rid of the piggie will they? I always worry about that adoption centre, it seems that they all 'disappear' not much longer than they're in there. It might just be me being paranoid though.

They won't just 'get rid of the piggy'. My degu was in the adoption centre for well over 6 weeks. I know this for a fact as we kept seeing him in there until my heart ruled my head and we brought him home.
