So, we got our new piggy yesterday and noticed today that he has a couple of areas on his groin where it loos greasy. Looked it up and it appears to be fur mite. Not sure what that means really. I have an appointment Thursday for him. Is there any medicated shampoo that will help with this? Heres a pic of our Seth

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

With all new piggies it is wise to get them registered and checked over with your vet, lots of piggies can arrive at their new home with little hitchikers if they have not been treated for mites/lice previously, especially if they are from a petshop/high volume breeder as they are all mixed together.

The picture of your piggy's belly shows one of his nipples, rather than a problem with his skin. Although the pic is not 100% in focus it does not look as though he has a parasite problem, he looks fabulous and very cute!

Hello and a big warm welcome to the forum,

The best thing to do is get him to a vets :) which youre doing on thursday, if he has mites the vet will prescribe him some medication to help.

Hope everythings okay with the little man xxxxx

Ah, I see now. Yea, they look like nipples this morning. Little bumps in the middles. Swirls of fur around them I'm still vetting him. How do you register them and why?
