Hi Guys.....My poor Seth had surgery yesterday to remove a MASSIVE abcess! ... Bless him..he's still under the weather and we're syringe feeding him until he feels well enough to eat again.... here's the pics!

:)

Oh wow that's massive. Poor boy, hope the recovery goes well. Have you been given antibiotics too?

Poor boy! I hope that he recovers well! Some abscess can blow up while you watch; one of my first piggies had one like that in a similar place. What antibiotic is he on?

Please weigh daily and hand feed if necessary. Give him a pinch of a probiotic about 1-2 hours after the antibiotic, either sprinkled on a bit of his favourite veg or mixed with 1ml of water and syringed in two mouthfuls.

See your vets asap if he loses weight/appetite or if you notice a swelling in the area or the lymph nodes.

Don't worry folks it's all under control......He's on Baytril....metacam and we're syringe feeding him until he feels well enough to eat!.... He's just eaten some cucumber all by himself...so that's good! :)

If the abscess comes back or if there are signs of an infection (sudden loss of appetite), I would strongly recommend to ask your vet for zithromax (azitromycin), as that is a very strong antibiotic that can cut through an abscess and save lives where baytril doesn't do the job.

Oh wow, that's quite the lump! I'm glad he has come through surgery okay. Hopefully he has a smooth recovery and is back to normal soon!

That is one cute piggie and one huge lump. Poor fella hope he feels better soon.

Sending healing vibes! What a brave boy! Glad to hear he's picking up now :)
