Pudding


The girls are selling in. Both scarper if anyone walks in the room or stands up from sitting. Both scarper when approaching to pick up. But! Pudding has chatted happily to me while having strokes, and Treacle lay her head down on my legs. Win! They're very energetic, running and popcorning around the enclosure several times a day, and talkative to each other.

Both ignore the ramp, even with parsley on it. Humph. All that effort for what!? I made the ramp longer than it was, so no jumping needed to get up there. They've both walked down it when, after cleaning, I placed them on the ramp, and they gripped the carpet fine and the angle wasn't too steep. How can I get them to use their upstairs if food isn't doing it for them!
 
Does the ramp have sides? If not I'd also try to add sides so they can't see the drop which is probably scaring them. You could also try placing them at the top so they have to go down or placing food on it for them to follow. Perhaps even lying it flat in the cage for them to walk along and scent and then put it back would make it feel less new and more comfortable. Is it possible they are using it when you're not around?

Yep it has sides, I like the idea of laying it flat for a while... I have had them at the top and they've gone down fine. I know they're not using it as is clean and tidy upstairs!

Glad they are settling in well.
 
They took breakfast from my hand without hesitation this morning. They're really coming around. :love:
 
Perseverance as far as the ramp goes. I would try putting the veg upstairs for a few days, put the pigs on the ramp and a few taps on the bum should get them shuffling up. After a few days they should be much more confident using it
 
Our pigs have ramps up to hay lofts, perfect for burrowing and hiding.
