Morning all,

We have two guinea pigs who we collected 6 weeks ago. They've just been in a rubbish shop bought indoor cage in this time whilst they adjusted to us and gained confidence etc. We would like to give them a proper home now.

We have a 4.5ft by 2ft space for them. We're thinking c and c cage but we also have dogs (guineas are up off the floor) so would like a roof option.

Would love advice on set ups. It seems that everyone uses fleece for flooring. Is this with newspaper underneath? My husband is convinced this will smell and is not keen.

An enthusiastic newbie!

Hi, I don’t have a c&c cage myself but plenty of members on here do. Lids can be built using c&c grids.

a lot of members do use fleece but you need something absorbent underneath such as puppy pads or old towels

Vetfleece brand Inconti-Pet washable puppy mats are great underneath fleece, they are super absorbent and soak away any smells and wetness. You can buy them on Amazon and I think on eBay too... we change our fleece and puppy mats twice a week and there is rarely any smell at all :)
