Can anyone help me. I was given 2 pigs by a friend of a friend just a couple of weeks ago after his children lost interest in them. I had no intentions of keeping them as already have 6 piggies from unexpected pregnancies, and really can't afford any more. I had been waiting for an answer from friend whether she wanted which she informed me yesterday she does not. I was choing to ring bramley cavy rescue to see if they would take them from me. However I have returned home from
Work just now and as I have gone to feed them I have noticed that one of the pigs Molly has a severe head tilt and her eye keep rolling back in her head. She was fine this morning. She appears to be a bit unsteady on her legs as well. Does anyone know what this could be and do you think the rescue centre will still take them. I can't get an appointment with my vets now as they are closed and really can't afford the £80 call out fee.

You need to call the vet for advise at least. They will have an answer machine message telling you what to do if you need advice in an emergency.

This doesn't sound like something that can wait until the morning.

This exact situation arose with my pig Fred - he had to go to the vet at 2am for antibiotic injection and steroid shot - he also got abs for at home he was on a 14 day course, It was an inner ear infection and without quick intervention can be very serious!

Get the piggy to a vet. Maybe you can call Bramley Cavies and see if they can help with the bill or take the piggies on.

Fingers crossed the piggy feels better soon.

Thanks I have emailed bramley and am awaiting a response.

A phone call is probably best for an emergency, emails can easily be missed.

Thanks for all the advice. Bramley cavies have got back to me and are on their way to collect the poorly piggies. X

The lady just text me and I rung her. My partner is just off to collect the piggies now so I can assess them and take them to vets if needs be.

Will update when I get the piggies back here.

Thank you so much Helen, I am so relieved that they are being looked after properly now. They are both such gorgeous, good natured girls and deserve to be in a home that can give them the best care. I would have loved to have kept them but I have my hands full already and really dont have the time or money for any more pets.
I hope Molly gets better soon and I will be in touch to do what I can to help fundraise foir you. I really can't thank you enough.

Good on you Nettie if not for your quick thoughts to ask questions and then contact Bramley.....i hate to think :(

Whee hope little Molly will respond to treatment quickly, she's in wonderful hands now at Bramley x)
