Severe IC

Made my decision. My gut instinct is to go ahead with the surgery. It's been a year since her last surgery. She's bright, she's a good weight. If I don't do the surgery I will have to put to sleep at some point due to pain. So I've made my decision.

Only this ovary reminant is coming out so some risk it may have caused cancer in uterus but vet can't feel that at all. And she said she wouldn't be able to get the remnant and uterus out in the same cut. And uterus surgery would be much more invasive.

It feels the right decision if it goes well or not, I've given her a chance. When she had one ovary out last time she did very well.

Glad you made a decision, at least it hopefully now won't weigh on your mind as much over the weekend and you can enjoy some Nancy time.

Will keep everything crossed (will look like a twizzler) for when her op comes around x

Thank you 😊

How is Nancy doing? I have been thinking about her
We are waiting for a surgery date. Various things with vet surgery means we need to wait, sometime in June the op will be going ahead. I assume I will find out in June when. I'm okay with this as it gives me more time with her. Since she had the big bleeds she's in significantly less pain though I've noticed it is starting to slowly get worse. But we are okay for now. She's not bleeding currently either.

I have various scenarios in my head that if they happen during surgery I would request the vet doesn't wake her up. So having some time with her when she isn't doing badly right now is nice.

She's currently sat stuffing her face with a hay cookie. Looking pretty content

Awwww love her, I'm glad to hear that her discomfort has improved. Can just imagine a cheeky big munching on a hay cookie.

I will continue to keep everything crossed that her surgery goes well, and hopefully it won't come to needing to request that she not be woken up.

Hope you have a lovely couple of weeks with your girl x

Thank you 🩷. I appreciate you asking after her

Nancy's surgery hasn't happened yet.. issues at the vets. Hopefully will be soon. I need to decide if I want her to switch op methods if she finds cancer in her uterus. At the moment she is going in the side to get the cyst/ovary that's regrown. But risk of her having uterus cancer from the hormones. If she finds cancer she could try a hysterectomy but.. that ovary may be hard to come out, it isnt connected anymoree. If it came out possible some maybe left behind and it regrows again.

At the moment I'm thinking of saying if she finds cancer to not wake her up. Nancy would be five in October. She's been through a lot. It went wrong with her sister when she had her uterus out so I know it can easily not go as hoped.

Sending hugs and healing vibes. ❤️

Dropped Nancy off for her op. If the regrown cyst/ovary comes out great. If not or she has cancer put to sleep. She would be 5 in October so I feel this decision is right.

Thanks all. I haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully good news but she may still be in surgery or not been seen yet

Turned out she had a big abscess and not a cyst/ovary growing back. Vet removed it. Various risks involved in her recovery. Will see how she goes over the coming weeks

She looked very rough this morning, off food and wouldn't take meds voluntarily which isn't like her
IIRC the day after the Op tends to be rough, and kind of a critical day. Good on getting the pain meds into her! I'm glad to hear she's perked up, ime that will increase her likelihood of taking food on her own or accepting critical care via dish or syringe and generally keeping going.

I'm fortunate that my vet is very good with pain management. She's got 0.25ml gabapentin, 1ml dog metacam twice a day. Plus I have buprecare for when needed. Try my best to not syringe feed because it is highly likely to cause an IC flare. She's eating, not entirely normally but she's pooing which good. The painkillers massively help. Thought I was going to have to syringe feed but she perks up after them

Nancy is looking so much better today. I'm very happy. She's eating well. Looks much more with it too. She had looked very flat.
Her poos are still not normal but she looks so much better 😊 isn't 100% herself but I wouldn't be either if I had an operation
