Severe weather warning sun/monday

I am really scared! The storm is hitting US (Copenhagen) and i am REALLY freaking out. I keep going downstairs to the piggies and making sure they are safe and not as scared as i am! There is a HUGE old tree outside our window and if that falls on us.. i might faint. Every 2 minutes there comes these Real strong winds and i really cant bear to see birds struggling to fly and getting trapped in tree branches! :Ayociexp118: We aren't getting much rain. Only the odd hailing. On the weather website for denmark (Link: http://www.dmi.dk/vejr/ ) and if you read the warming (Aktuelt) it says DMI warning on storm. Wind at hurricane power. I really hope this doesn't pass england (or if it has as it is now.. Monday afternoon) as i am really nervous if those piggie hutches fall down and can risk the death of our beloved piggies. Please do make sure you piggies are safe, and if you can please do take them inside so they can remain calm. (and so can you )

As Highway Man has said, the storm passed over us on its way to you and I'm sad to say it has gained a lot in its intensity.....Denmark is very much bearing the full-blown brunt of what could very easily have landed on the UK earlier today if it hadn't been moving so fast. It is not going to be pleasant for Denmark as the winds will be much higher and damage will be greater. Superpiggies it would be good idea to make sure your piggies are safe inside away from windows tonight...and you also! If you have a two storey house might be worth sleeping downstairs which is what i tried to do last night.

I shall be thinking of you all tonight and hope you all stay safe.

Well I think the UK got away very lightly although sadly we have had 4 deaths in the south east plus one missing teenager at sea as a direct result of the storm that passed through, together with many homes without power and a lot of disruption. However it could have been a lot worse so please spare a thought for Denmark atm as they are getting what could have been intended for us had the jet stream slowed down. The Met Office really are to be praised on the prediction and reporting of this storm even before it has started forming.

It did develop the forecast jet sting which was responsible for the most damaging winds over small areas of the country. For my part I am pleased with all the preparations i took as I had a very narrow escape and was very lucky the rain came before the wind otherwise it may have been quite another story.

My area had one of the highest amounts of rain - 45mm - which brought the stream right to the top of the bridge at about 2am....but it didn't actually burst its banks although the piggies did get their wellingtons ready. Thankfully the water levels were going down by the time 6am came and the huge weeping willow above my property got snapped off at trunk level by a 62mph gust and fell into the stream and across my fence. Had that happened at 2am, then we would definitely have been flooded.
