Not really health related but I couldn't think where to post this.
Now I can normally easily tell whether a guinea pig is male or female.
So I was checking my friend's guinea pig which she was told was a female, but it doesn't look anything like my four females have looked like. It looked like a male to me but I couldn't get the penis to come out. It looked like there was a penis but it wouldn't come out. I can get them to come out on my male pigs, lol.
And she has another guinea pig (I didn't see) that she was told was male (she has them seperated until neutered) but she says it doesn't look like a male, it is four months old but doesn't seem to have testicles. ?
And the "female" one chases the male and tries to get into its cage, and whenever it is near the "male" one, it gets a white discharge from its genitals. She thought this meant she was on heat, but I told her that they only come into heat every 18 days, and this happens all the time.
Just wondering if anyone else has ever noticed a female or male pig getting discharge when around the opposite sex.
I'm probably wrong, but I thought it was a male at first . . . it probably is a female . . . ? She's also a huge guinea pig! Not as big as those giant ones, just a really big normal pig.
