Dannii.

Hi everyone,
Atm i have 3 guinea pigs 2 smooth haired and one long haired.
There all 3 females and although no fighting goes off both my smooth haired guniea pigs constantly play together while the long haired one is left out and spends most time along in the cage :(
There all about 10 weeks old now and live in a big cage indoors :)
So if i was to purchase another long haired guniea pig would it get along with the other 3 piggies i currently have?
I'm hoping if i do, the new piggie will sociate with the other long haired piggie and its always nice to give a new piggie home if i could :)

Thankyou for your time. :)

It would depend entirely on the personalities of your trio. You wouldn't "have" to have another longhaired piggy as piggies don't pair up in that way, they're not bothered in hair length :)
There are no guarantees the 4th one would pair up with the one who's on it's own but if you have the room/finances for another then you can try or do you have the room to have 2 pairs if it didn't work as a foursome? :)

Personally I'd try to adopt not buy one, then you could ask the rescue place if they minded you taking your 3 with you to try and choose a suitable one that way :)

you never know, your long haired maybe like my longhaired, very quiet and shy! she loves our boy to bits though, so as soon as he's done, we'll try them all as a fivesome or perhaps as a trio and a duo x

We had a similar situation a couple of years ago when our Bessie was being bullied by the others after one had died. We got our Misty and this changed the pecking order again and they all got on fine. With females I would recommend it but please support your local rescue when doing this.

Hope this helps

I think it would work, mainly because they are young and haven't been together too long. I know from experience putting a sow with an established group is harder work.

Maybe a neutered boar and I would go to rescue, loads as there are too many in rescue at the mo. :)

Thankyou for all your informative replies.
Ive decided to try a rescue center :)
Theres no fighting that goes off so I'm hoping that the 4th guniea pig will get along with the other 3 fine :)
