My new boar is a bit whiffy on occasions :))

Recommended shampoos for boars?

Cheers

thanks Miss Magpie, they have so many, I am going to email them but do you guys have experience of the best ones yourself?

thanks

I havent got boars myself but I use Lice 'n' easy on my girls as one tends to lie i her own wee and it stains her white fur on her botty. I emailed the lady at gorgeous guinea and she recommended that as the best one for the stains.

I'm sure they have one called barmey for boars? thats sounds suitable.
:)p

Why not try your own hair shampoo/conditioner on the boars? Not sure if you can use pig shampoo on yourself!

No. (Why use a sentence when one word will do, nothing like being straight to the point!??)
Apologies to other readers but Miss Magpie understands what I mean!

Nizoral and Alphosyl are two human shampoos used to good effect on guinea pigs.
I have a friends who bath their pigs in Pantene Pro V, followed by P. Conditioner.
I sometimes use Johnson's baby shampoo on the pigs.
Selsun is good for skin problems. Coal Tar shampoo is effective as an initial wash for fungal trouble.
I have no experience of using pig shampoo on myself, I wonder if it is licensed for use on humans!?
I think that gives an opening for some good responses....

ooo thats really interesting :) My piggies will be like the models on the pantene adverts flicking around their glossy hair :)
Baby shampoo is pretty good when it comes to mildness so id imagine that'd be okay for piggies. I use it on my hair because its so weak because of bleaching and to be gentle on the new colour as i dyed over the blonde with brown.

I would imagine piggie shampoo is just very very mild like baby shampoo then. I wouldnt imagine i'd need to use "Lice 'n' Easy" from gorgeous guinea pigs though :p hahahahaha!

I suppose if you were to use Lice 'n' Easy there would be complaints along the lines of "She's been using our shampoo again" !

I would never use a human-strength shampoo on my pig unless it was recommended to treat a medical problem, in which case the use would be temporary and brief.

Guinea pig skin is a lot more sensitive than ours, and human shampoos have an insane number of chemicals I avoid putting on my own hair never mind my guinea pigs.

I'll second the gorgeous guineas shampoo. I've used their 4-oils shampoo and I was very pleased with the results, my boys smelt nice and their coats were super shiny. :)

I have used just for boars and that worked well and the manuka & neem shampoo also when I suspected fungus. they both seemed fine. I don't really know if human shampoo is ok for guineas but I wouldn't be willing to risk it on my boys!

To think human shampoos were once tested on guinea pigs.
I have never seen any pig adversely affected by human shampoo, has anyone, if so which brand?

I haven't had any adverse effects when i've used human shampoos on my piggies nor on myself & i have "sensitive skin" having got psoriasis :)
