Picked u my 1st piggie today :) must admit havent really a clue when or how to bath him.
I have 4 bunnies so today s my first time owning a cute piggie.
What shampoo and how often should I bath him ?Should I bath him in the sink ?

Will now be on the look out for another male piggie, have been old it will need to be a bab male as the one I took on today is an adult.

Hi Karen :) Your piggie looks gorgeous I have just left you a reply on your posting in the gallery.

www.gorgeousguineas.com is the place to look for guinea shampoos as many people on here will soon tell you.

I personally have not had the need to bath my piggies so I haven't ever done it so will leave the explaining of that to people who have. However you need to make sure the water doesn't go in their ears & only have it very shallow. You may find your piggie, like mine stays clean & a bath isn't necessary. ;)

hi

I bath my guinea pigs before shows and that is it. But if i didn't go to guinea pigs shows i would bath them about 3 times a year i wouldn't bath them too much as their hair can get greasy. (my guinea pigs are short and smooth haired). I bath them in the sink, but after their bath i wash the sink with bleech or some other kitchen cleaning product. I have the water temperature not too hot and not too cold to test the water i put my elbow in the water which works best. I use pet shampoo instead of guinea pig shampoo. i also use puppy shampoo sometimes that works REALLY well!

i hope this all helps you when you bath your gorgeous guinea pigs next!

I use gorgeous guineas shampoo on my lot and it really is a fantastic shampoo I feel O0

I also use gorgeous guineas shampoo, wouldnt trust anything else. I too have boars and their grease gland can get quite smelly (located where their tail would be if they had one) so I use a little swarfega on that and leave for a few mins before washing off in gg shampoo. I dont bath them unless they are very grubby, just do their bums every couple of weeks. None of mine like baths :(
I personally do them in my bath rather than the sink, but this is personal choice of course. I put a towel on the bottom to make it non slip and fill the water to just above the top of their legs. I then rinse them off with fresh water. The temperature should be about the same as you would use for a baby-luke warm.
Hope this helps ;)

I only bath a couple of times a year, but do Pookie's bum every week. I do it in the bath too, I have an old bathmat I put in the bath then stand a small washing up bowl in the bath put the piggy in and then gently pour water over them till its half full and splash their tummies to make them wet too! But when I do Pookie's bum I just do him in the bathroom sink, he's so used to it now he justs stands with his front feet on the side whilst I wash his bot!

Mine have baths every month or 6 weeks or so as Tiger is a sheltie and Jeremy just pongs and gets dandruff. I tried the Gorgeous Guineas Just for Boars shampoo (so they didn't complain of smelling too girly!) for the first time recently and it was fab - Tiger's long hair stayed really soft and untangled for much longer than with the Johnsons Small Animal stuff, and for the forst time Jeremy had no dandruff and has stayed clear for weeks!

I put them in the bath together in very shallow water so that there is hardly any in the shallow end, and pour it over them with a cup, then they get a good rub with a towel which Jeremy hates, and if its cold they get the hairdryer!
