I feel some of the issues with rescue piggies might be that people do not see them and all their cuteness (unlike with the pet shop piggies!)

So to all those lovely memebers who have rescue piggies with (or without) a story to share, post your pictures :) Tell us about their wonderfull characters, and if you can tell us how old they were when you got them :)

We got Bailey last December from Joanne (Milhaven Rescue) after our boy Benny died and Frankie needed a new cage mate. Bailey was 8 weeks old and had come from a big group of rescued piggies. Here he is meeting Frankie for the first time:

Once he was home:

This was taken about a month ago, he is now over 1kg and is such a funny character, a complete nutter! :

:O SQUEEEEEE How cute is he. :P I have a bit of a thing for buff piggies with dark eyes (shhh dont tell my pair ;) ) but if i ever got more piggies, it would be because a little buff piggy melted my heart :)

I might even have to pignap the pair of them... :))

Haha, his skin is really dark under that hair. He is a little monkey and doesn't stop making noise. He seems to have to talk to himself constantly. Wouldn't be without him though :)

I would love a chatty piggy. my two are very silent types. :) I love hearing about other piggies characters.

I don't have a picture but I can still tell you about them!x) Strawberry and Sugar came as a pair as their owner couldn't be bothered to look after them any more. Strawberry is black with brown speckles on her face and a brown stripe going across half of her back. She also has a ridge going down the middle of her back. Sugar is White with red/brown eyes. Both are very fat.
Whispa is my newest addition. She is a tort and White. Her mum came to the rescue pregnant and gave birth to her and her 2 sisters. She was the only """special""" one. She doesn't have ear flaps and although there is nothing wrong with her legs she will only walk on 3 but will run and stand on 4.... Weird piggy!x)x)x)x)

Guy :)

This beautiful boy is a rescue pig from Glynneath Guinea Pig Rescue!

My lone boar Troy went in for Boar Dating and came home with Guy!

Guy is a lovely piggy, he has beautiful bluey eyes and is my biggest pig! He is learning to come up and take veggies from my fingers during veggie time and every day he likes to call out to me to feed him! He normally starts off the others... The guinea pig choir!

I feel so lucky to have Guy as he truly is a wonderful piggy and a lovely friend for Troy!

Ohhh :) I'm really enjoying hearing all your stories, guy is a very cute pirate piggie! :D

After Rosie, our 6 year old lady had been on her own for 2 years after Georgie passed away I found out about Guinea pig rescues. It took a bit of persuading as I live at home with my parents and am away at uni for some of the time- hence they would have to take some of the responsibility even though I'm not a child ;)
So we travelled down to the Potteries in early May, and we met Helen and her piggies, and sow dated Rosie with a beautiful ginger named Ruby, she was about 5 months old. They were so calm on their date, the followed each other round and then settled down.

A few days after they came home together as 'newly-weds' (One of my favourite photos!)

Ruby has a lovely personality, she is still timid but loves her cuddles. She also likes to lick: fingers, arms, faces and noses!

We had also seen 2 other piggies that we would like to adopt, so about 10 days later we took the girls down to the Potteries again and they met Susie and Polly. It was amazing how Ruby's personality changed, from the meeting initially with Rosie to this new meeting with Susie and Polly- she was being so dominant, rumblestrutting, nosing off and some lunges. We were understandably a little upset that it didn't go to plan, so while we sat and had a cuppa, Helen tried the girls with two others: Esme and Tia. As we walked back into the room where they were it was amazing, the four girls were all snuggled up together- little Miss dominant had completely disappeared.

So instead Esme and Tia came home with us. Esme is Tia's mummy and was approximately between 1 and 2 and Tia was 9 weeks when we got them.

This is Esme(L) and Tia (R) (Tia looks alot bigger on this pic than she actually is)

Esme is very calm, she knows how to wheek and loves climbing up the bars where she knows she will get food- Ruby is also quickly learning. Another love of hers is FOOD! She is first in the food bowl and last to leave, she loves cuddles and will sit there for ages, and adores chin rubs. She doesn't know how to lick without teeth! Everything has to be nibbled a little before her tongue comes out!

Esme loving her chinnie rubs!

Tia is a little madam, she is the smallest and most timid, but also the most bossy! She likes to be hand fed whilst sitting in your arms, as she is too scared to come to the bars. She may be scared of people, but not piggies who are twice the size of her, she is very similar in nature to Ruby as both are quite dominant and they seem to always be bickering a little, but it soon calms down. She is also the most dominant when in season, strutting her stuff and mounting everything :(|)

Tia (The light makes her look very shiny)

Oooo, I'm quite jealous of your little herd ;) I love my boys, but i have the space for a cage of 4... obviously this isnt possible with boys. lol

Whispa it did work and they are very lovely looking!

this was when they all met the little fluffy baby for the first time. the white smooth coated one with the brown face has now crossed rainbow bridge which is why we got whispa..photos to follow!

So many beautiful piggies :) warms my heart so many people rescue :) .... we rescued 2 sows Mimi and Jazzie Jazzmine..mum and daughter...Mimi sadly passed away now...then we rescued 4 boars, Mokie-Man, Waspey, Becksadoodle and Mr Wu (who were all keep in one of those small guinea pig hutchces you buy from pets at home), then not long after we rescued (from the same irresponsible owner) Gabe (RIP sweet guy), Darfy (RIP beautiful man) Sidney & Elvis. We then adopted Fifi as a friend for Jazzie Jazzmine after Mimi passed away :)

Wow, i love seeing people who have rescued :P all the gorgeous piggies :D

I got him from Milhaven last December. Like lots of people, I hadn't realised there were so many piggies in rescue needing homes until I joined the forum.

Murray was very nervous but with a lot of patience he has become a very loving and cuddly boy and he loves to talk, he now comes to me when it is time for a cuddle and he loves his lady pigs Jasmine and Lucy.

here he is with his girls

murry is rather lovely! but how do you keep his long coat so shinny all the time? :)

I adopted my Welsh trio last year Maggie Milkshake and Pixie.

Maggie is the oldest of the three. She was already 2 when I got her (not that that would stop me). She is always chattering away to herself as she wanders around. She had to be hand reared at the rescue meaning she is very friendly and gives piggy kisses when she gets cuddled. She has long hair so needs a lot of brushing which she isn't fond of and is a little diva when grooming time comes. She is closely bonded to Milkshake.

Milkshake the next oldest she was almost 2 when I got her. Milky is a much quieter piggy. I believe she came from a breeder who was closing down. She very much likes her own way and tells any pig who will listen. She likes cuddles once you have hold of her but tends to miss the idea of piggy kisses and nibbles instead. Another long hair but in her case she needs more trimming than brushing.

Pixie is the youngest of all my piggies she was just 4 months when I got her. Pixie was the most nervous at the beginning and still is but has come out of her shell over the last year. She is a big girl now beating Maggie in weight and a cuddly girl now. It has been wonderful watching her confidence grow since I got her and its still growing as just last week she gave me piggy kisses for the first time.

Awww, i am very envious of how gorgeous all these piggies are, makes me remember why i was logistically trying to squeeze more into my bedroom! lol

Our first ever two rescue piggies Cookie (brown and white) and Treacle (Ginger and White) we adopted them in March 2011 from Walsall RSPCA. They are the most fun piggies I've ever met. Really relaxed around us and are extremely vocal. Every morning when we open the door of the living room they throw themselves at the bars of the cage waiting for breakfast. They love being hand fed and lately are turning into real lap piggies...

This is Megan, she came from Walsall RSPCA in Jan this year and is our special needs lone piggie. Her original story can be found here http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=77299

She is such a sweet natured little girl and has blossomed every day since we have had her.
