I know there are probably hundreds of these threads/posts but I thought I would share my story...

Last Thursday my mum and I went to pick up a 1 year old piggy, advertised as female and free to a good home. This included her 48" hutch also.

We arrived at the girls house, and my mum stayed in the car. I went round the side to the gate like I was told to, taking the travel box with me. The girl came and opened the gate and took me to the hutch. She was in the middle of cleaning it (sweeping the woodshavings out), the piggy was in the run.

Shortly after, she picked the piggy up and cuddled her for a bit. I asked a few questions.. one being, has she always lived alone?. She answered no, when she first got her she was told she was a male.. then put 'him' in a trio of males. I suppose she checked them all a while later and she thought there had been a mix up and 'he' was actually a 'she'.

Anyway, to cut a long story short... I named 'her' Gypsy. Until today, I believed she was indeed female. How ever after our vet visit this morning, I discovered she.. is MALE!. How confusing!
