Junior Guinea Pig
So we have been busy over the last few weeks making tweaks to the shed and I think we are finally there. Photos below and here’s a description in case it gives anyone tips.
We purchased a 6x4 shed for our 2 boars snowy and mittens. We have adapted the original hutch we had for them by removing the roof from the run and then attaching the sides to the shed to give them a bigger area.
We have lined it with Lino and then we used soft play matts, puppy pads and fleece in the bottom run area.
We have installed a small heater to prevent the shed from freezing and we have insulated most of the shed. We haven’t done it all as we have found it streams up in a morning if we did and don’t want too much moisture in there. The areas where they had access to the wall of the shed have been lined with insulation and then Lino over the top.
For winter we have insulated the top hutch area and altered the ramp so it is not as steep. The Guineas have not had an issue with the ramp at all.
We have added the hello fresh box, under that is another hide and we have put insulation between both to make it nice and warm.
On an evening we add 2x snuggle safe pads and pull the covers over the hutch to the floor to try stop the draughts.
last thing is to put the curtains up.
We secure it each night with 2 locks and then a pad lock.
