one of my guinea kids seems to be shedding a lot. he's still a baby but it getting pretty big, i'm not sure if this has to do with him growing or if its something i should worry about. i've had him about two months and he hasn't shed like this before. my other guinea kid doesn't seem to shed at all.

Shedding is perfectly normal. Some piggies shed a lot, some don't really shed at all. At the moment most of mine seem to be losing quite a bit of 'surface' hair, it often increases at this time of year as the weather starts to warm up.

Only if the hair is coming out from the skin, and the skin seems to be irritated, sore and has bald patches developing, then a skin problem - parasitic or fungal - could be to blame.

My piggies are shedding too, Keith and Kevin (fosters) are also shedding x

Mostly, seasonal shedding is normal, especially as it's getting warmer now.

I would keep an eye out for when shedding is accompanied with vigorous scratching, as that can be the first sign of mites or other skin problems.

Pudsey who is a Rex/Texal X is shedding, we thought mites at first but it is the same every year with him!

Maggie is also shedding a little but nothing to be concerned over just the odd hair! funny how some do and some don't! :)
