just took on two boys round 10 month old brothers in a rite state (matted wise) called them max n paddy do they sleep on shavings? how much for a complete groom proffessionally? ive done the best but it aint 100% lol
 
you should becareful with shavings as they can dry out the skin of guinea pigs
put some newspaper on top then some hay to snuggle into this is the easiest and cheapest way
grooming wise i haven't heard of professional guinea groomers owners tend to do their own and maybe contact a local rescue for tips on trimming etc the money would be put to better use ;)

I would try chopping all the hair off to be honest and starting again. That's if you want the boys fur to grow back! I prefer to keep my sheltie short all the time, much easier
 
If you're asking if this happens ... then no it doesn't. You have to be careful if using shredded paper if there is any crayon or marker pen staining then these can lead to problems, but basically these days the ink used in newspapers is harmless.
