Can you all keep your fingers crossed for Sherbert. Last night I went in to give them their veggies and notice Sherbs wasn't squeaking and running to the bars like she usually does. When she did come out for some food she was moving a lot slower, and just didn't really seem herself. She did tuck into the food though which is a good sign at least. When I went into feed them this morning she has decreased significantly since last night. Her fur is all puffed up and she's very lethargic. I'm booking her into the vets as soon as they open, at 8:30, the wait is killing me. I have her curled up on my lap right now and she just made a weird grunting noise as she breathed in but overall her breathing doesn't seem that bad. So I have no idea what's wrong with her.
I'm so worried for her. She's 6 1/2 so I know that she might not be with us much longer but I'm really not ready to loose her. :(

Keeping everything crossed that the vet can help. If she is fluffed up she may be in pain, which gives the vet something to go on.

Will keep everything crossed it's nothing too serious and your vet can help.

Thanks guys. Got an appointment with the vets for 12:20.

Well we're back from the vets. The vet heard some crackling in Sherbert's chest and suspects a minor URI. On the plus side she said her heart sounds fine and there doesn't seem to be anything else wrong with her. Pretty standard procedure of baytril and loxicom, seeing how that goes and bringing her back in a week. Managed to sneak attack sherbs with the baytril while she was chewing on the bars of her carry cage, put the syringe in her mouth while she was chewing and got the baytril down her before she even knew what happened. Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed for her.

All the best! Weigh her daily at the same time and if necessary, top up with syringe feed. Contact your vet sooner as soon as there is further deterioration or if there is no improvement within 3 days.

Definitely going to keep a close eye on her weight. Luckily I have some recovery food left over from a previous piggy illness so I'll be giving her that too.

The very best of luck. Hope she's better very soon, it's so scary when things like that happen. Really pleased to read that her heart appears to be fine. xx

I'm very sad to say that Sherbert passed away earlier tonight. She went very peacefully in my arms, even so I am devastated and will miss her so much. Thanks to those who posted. I will write a memorial for her in the rainbow bridge section when I can bring myself to do so.
