The past few days I've noticed Sherbet scratching and nibbling her fur more than usual. I've given her a good look over and can see no bald patches or dry/red skin, no unusual amount of hair loss and no visible creepy crawlies.
Is it worth getting her checked by a vet or should I keep an eye on her and see if it resolves its self or gets worse? Would it be worth giving her a bath and seeing if that helps, she is due for one.Her friend Rio isn't scratching but if I take Sherbet to the vet would it be worth having Rio checked and treated as well if it turns out Sherbet has got something.

I think this calls for a visit to the vet. One of my piggies was scratching last Wednesday & took her to vet next day where the vet discovered she had swollen lymph nodes which I'm now checking daily for any change.

Ok thanks, I'll book a trip to the vets tomorrow. Hope your piggy is ok Stewybus.
Any ideas what could have Sherbet scratching?

It could be mange mites which can't be seen and are under the skin or even hay mites or static lice. There is also the possibility of fungal.

As Helen stated, it could be one of many. My piggies diagnosis is probably way down the list of possibilities.

I've dealt with mites and fungal before, and they were easily treated so I hope this is a quick fix too.
