Its really getting on my nerves nowgrrrr

Bubbleberry has almost always barbered Bee-Bop and Melonie, but its got worse lately.:(

Shes not bored, and she always has nice hay and other yummy stuff to eat, but SHE STILL DOES IT!pow-pow

I'm certain its a dominance thing.I really want it to stop!

Ive tried rubbing fresh peppermint on them (they dont like the smell). It seemed to work at first, but have given up on it now as it stopped working.

Barbering (Hair Chewing) is a common problem in guinea pigs. 'Barbering' is just one of the many causes of it. This vice (bad habit) occurs when guinea pigs chew on the hair coats of other guinea pigs that are lower than them in the social 'pecking order'. The dominant 'pig' and main culprit is identified by its normal, full hair coat while others have areas of alopecia (hair loss). There is no treatment for this condition except separating the guinea pigs if it becomes a serious problem.
Hair loss or hair thinning can occur for a number of other reasons as well. It is a common phenomenon among sows who are repeatedly bred or weakened, newly weaned juvenile guinea pigs. Certain fungal diseases and external parasite infestations also influence hair loss problems.
i got this of a web page, so either put up with it, get them checked by a vet or remove the hairdresser. good luck hoping she stops soon. it did say on another site that it could be neurotic meaning she's bored, scared or other problems. hugs to all:rose:rose:rose
 
She seems to do it more when shes having an off day.
The only thing i could do is divide the C&C, then they can still interact with each other, but I dont think i want to do this unless is really starts stressing them out.:{
 
I've never had a barber, just curious what do the others do whilst she's delivering the trim
 
They used to squeal, but now they just sit there and let her do it most the timegrrrr
 
Yup, shes very funny, and cuddly. But shes very naughty with Bee-Bop and Melonie Chin rolleyes
 
I think she's making sure she's the prettiest. Ha Ha do you remember being young and getting ready with you mates and hoping they didn't come off looking better than you

I dont remember cos am still just 14! Havnt done that yet!
