Finally my piggie is home.

She is sooo adorable.

She was in her tube when i first got to my bfs but we managed to tease her out with hay. My bf had her on his lap and she seemed quite content to sit there eattin hay from his lap.

She did have a sniff and nibble of my finger but I'm assuming this was uncertainly.

We also let her have a run round the massive kitchen....but when it was time to get her bk in her cage it was quite a task which we both found highly amusing....but boy can they move!

She made many diff noises one bein almost like a bleeting noise. iv no idea what it means :(

I will try post a couple of pics.

i dont know how to put the pics on :(

I'd give her a week to settle in before you start to let her out or handle her. This is essential in letting her get accustomed to her new home, I know it's difficult but in the long run this will benefit you. For now I'd just talk to her softly whilst you're feeding her veggies. After the first week you should start out with some calm lap time, bring veggies along to tempt her. Eventually you will gain her trust and before long she'll be giving you piggie kisses!

To post photos upload them to photobucket or tinypic, then use this code.

I really didn't know about not handling them for a while. at least I do now and won't get her out for a few days :)

What a beautiful little Abyssinian! If she's already eating off your lap on her first day you won't have any troubles in taming her. I've taken in chronically terrified piggies and they always come around with lots of food and love. The fact that you have got one who is already tame will make things so much easier!

Enjoy your little girl, piggies are precious! You'll wonder what you were doing before she was in your life x

she is so sweet really.

at one point while she was eating her hay she stretched her both legs out from behind her while continuing to eat. I don't know whether this is a good thing or not though :- s

I'll make sure that she stays in her cage today giving her time to adjust :)

x>>:)) Aw, she's adorable.
Sounds as though she is already very relaxed, most piggies will hide away for a few days until they get to know the environment.
Talk to her daily and give her little chin tickles so she'll recognise you are there for her - she'll have you wrapped around her little paws in no time and you become a 'slave' to their every whim xx>>>

I handle my pigs from the start as soon as they come home with me, they have to get used to it so start as you mean to go on. Some find it easier to herd them into a bed or cozy to lift them out onto the lap and then let them come out to you in their own time, I tend to just catch them up and give them a cuddle, some veg and then put them back in.

I also talk to them when I am near, I try them to see if they wish to take veg from my hands, some do, some dont even over a year later but all are very handlable once caught (my herd is terrible at running off but they like to be left alone on the whole)

What I have found lately that really works, especially with my very skittish abbeys is I put some veg in the pen but then I break up some lettuce or green leafed something and gently but not stealthy, put these bits ontop of what they are already tucking into. If I get the speed right in placing the food in, they have got used to my hand coming near them and yummy veg and are less likely to rush off and hide (which silver is terrible for doing) so are getting less skittish.

She is *** fab!

I miss her & i no my bf does too. She is stayin at his for now but to be honest my bf is already so attached to her i think she may stay there permently. jealoussss!

She's beautiful. :) Will she be having a friend, as piggies do better in pairs? :)
