Hi All,

I was grooming Cuzzy last night (Sheltie) and noticed his coat isn't shiny and his fur feels quite dry not sure why I groom him with being longhaired but I'd like to get it to look in better condition. Twinkles in the same (semi long mixed Peruvian) it feels quite dry and isn't shiny but maybe it is meant to be that way with them not being Silkies?

However my girls Flora and Fleur have very shiny coats, but they are smooth haired can you get Silkie Smooths?

And if I can improve the condition of the boys coats can anyone advise the best products to use?

Thanks (and sorry for so many questions today!)

Louise

Shelties and Silkies are the same thing and only come in longhair variety, obs the hair can be clipped.

Sometimes the coat can become dry, I would recommend a good bath and it should bring the coat back to a normal smooth silky texture.
I bath my pigs in Gorgeous Guinea Products or Johnson Insecticidal Shampoo. The coat could need a clip, I know when my hair needs cutting it goes very dry, probably of the dead ends.

Thanks Emma,

I thought Silkies was a reference to the coat itself 98) I'll give the boys a bath (seperatly don't want another barny) and that should work. Looking at Cuzzy he could do with his coat clipping now it's getting quite long. Twinkle is mostly white so he has regular baths as he is always dirty.

Take care,

Louise

You could email Chrissie at gorgeousguineas and explain his coat condition to her and she will recommend the best one to use ;)

Yep sheltie/silkie is the same thing...

Well for one, too much bathing can make the hair dry...in my experience shelties should have smoother hair than any other breeds! There are a lot of products on the market you can use, just do your research and I'm sure you will find something you can use O0

Like has been said, a lot of people here use gorgeous guineas, but its upto you :)

I use Posh N Go on my longhairs, it strengthens and conditions the coat.

Ta very much, I'll order some tomorrow when I've got the reddies :D
